Gators Land Elite Transfer Guard

With the loss of Denzel Aberdeen earlier this week, the Florida Gators men’s basketball team has found its replacement at guard.

A.J. Brown, the older brother of rising Florida sophomore Isaiah Brown, officially committed to Florida early Thursday morning. The 6’4 redshirt sophomore from Orlando started three seasons for Ohio University in the Mid-American Conference. He averaged 13.2 points per game last season for the Bobcats.

This is a massive addition for a Gators team that was spread thin at the guard spot. Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin and Will Richard have all entered their names into the 2025 NBA Draft. Aberdeen committed to SEC rival Kentucky, and Kajus Kublickas remains in the transfer portal.

Brown is an elite scorer who can create his own shot, but is more specifically scorching hot from three point range. He shoots a touch under 40% from deep and dominates off the catch.

Having Princeton star Xavian Lee running the point could set Brown up for a career year. Tack on rookie CJ Ingram, and Coach Golden can keep Florida’s backcourt a feared unit despite the full turnover in personnel.

Florida now has two remaining scholarship spots after filling four open positions with Brown, Lee and freshmen Ingram and Alex Lloyd.
