Game One
The Bobcats took Game 1 against eight seed First Coast (17-11).
Aidan Kastensmidt started for the Bobcats and recorded a win. The Buccaneers offense was no match for Kastensmidt as he struck them out seven times and didn’t allow any runs. Cohen Lafler came in the final inning to close the game for the Bobcats. Lafler etched one strikeout.
The Bobcats capitalized on their chances as they finished with five runs and six hits on the day. JJ Gardner was responsible for three of these runs as he knocked one out of the park in the fourth inning.
The Bobcats didn’t make any errors in the field and thwarted most scoring opportunities for the Buccaneers.
Game Two
The second game saw an even more lopsided result than the first as the Bobcats won 9-2.
Wyatt Clarke started the game and recorded the win along with eight strikeouts. Then, Dion Wilburn came in as relief and recorded five strikeouts of his own.
The Bobcats raked on offense as the team batted .400 for the game. Kai So could not miss as he went three-for-four at the plate and recorded an RBI. Gardner and Roen Kresak hit well with a home run and triple, respectively. Stuart Ding batted in the last two runs for the Bobcats.
Looking Ahead
The Bobcats will host either four seed Cantonment Tate or five seed Neptune Beach Fletcher in next Wednesday’s regional semifinals. Tate defeated Fletcher, 3-0, on Wednesday in the first game of their best-of-3 series in Northwest Florida.
