Gators Women’s Golf Places Second in SEC Championship

The No. 7 seeded Florida Gators women’s golf team fell to No. 1 seeded South Carolina in the final round of the SEC Championship. After a hard-fought set of rounds, the Gators lost the matchplay 3-1-1

Individual Performances

Karoline Tuttle was the first Gator to tee off and the only Gator that outright won on Friday. The redshirt sophomore was ahead almost the entire round, only remaining tied for four holes.

Paula Francisco had a battle for dominance, switching from being tied, up and then down. However, the sophomore didn’t back down and finished the match tied, earning the Gators half a point.

The remaining Gators didn’t have much success, with sophomore Inès Archer and redshirt freshman Addison Klonowski ending their rounds on the 17th hole after being down three and two, respectively. Freshman Jessica Guiser ended on hole 16 after being down three.

Up Next

Although it finished the final in second, Florida still had an incredible week at the SEC Championship, sweeping the No. 2 seed LSU in the quarterfinals 5-0 and defeating the No. 2 team in the country, Arkansas, 3-2.

Florida’s postseason run isn’t over yet as it will move on to the NCAA Regional Championship that takes place from May 5-7. Shortly after, the NCAA National Championships commences on May 16 in the Omni La Costa’s North Course in Carlsbad, California.
