The spring transfer portal opens today, and Florida has its eyes on the action. With the window running from Wednesday to April 25, college football programs get one last shot at reworking rosters before fall camp.
For the Gators, this will be a great time to assemble their best roster. Coach Billy Napier knows the stakes. He watched his team through spring practice and saw what needed fixing. The portal is the only place to find immediate answers now. And for players, it’s their last chance to find a new home before the 2025 season starts.
The transfer portal isn’t a public list, it’s a private NCAA database that only schools can access. Once a player submits his intent to transfer, his name goes in, and schools can contact him. A player doesn’t have to choose a new team right away. But to be eligible for 2025, he must enter during the window. Once inside, his current school can pull the scholarship.
That’s the catch: It could benefit or destroy your chances.
Notable players entering the portal
Over 2,200 players have transferred this offseason. One of the biggest names to jump ship is Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. He’s hunting for more NIL money and a fresh start. He’s not the only one.

Andy Jean, a former Gators wide receiver, is back in the portal. After a quick stop at Pitt, he’s on the move again. Jean redshirted in 2023 and still has three years left. His story’s a reminder that the portal is a revolving door. Once a Gator, always a Gator? Not anymore.
While all this movement unfolds, Florida’s schedule for SEC Media Days is locked in. Napier and select players will hit Atlanta on July 16. That spotlight will shine bright. The roster that walks into that event might look different from the one that walked off the spring field.
