Tampa Bay Rays’ Upcoming Battles

The Tampa Bay Rays had a successful weekend when they clinched their three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves 6-3, 4-5 and 8-3.

After starting the season fairly even, the Rays have continued to teeter back and forth with their record on the season holding at 7-8, which puts them at fourth in the AL East division, trailing the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

This Week

The Rays will play two crucial AL East division teams — the Yankees and the Red Sox. A decent performance against either or both of these teams would have a considerable impact on Tampa Bay’s standings and help continue to set the tone for the remainder of the season.

The Red Sox are first up on the Rays’ hit list with the first of a three-game home series beginning Monday night at 7:05. Coverage for the game starts half an hour prior to game time. The first pitch will also be thrown at 7:05 p.m. at their Tuesday and Wednesday games.

Following the series with the Red Sox, the Rays will remain at Tropicana Field for their four-game weekend series against the Yankees, beginning Thursday at 7:05 p.m., along with the Friday game. The Saturday matchup begins a little earlier in the day at 4:10 p.m. The final game of the series on Sunday will be a day game beginning at 1:40 p.m.

Overall, this will be a tough week for the Rays. While the Red Sox and Yankees are both 5-5 in their last 10 games, the Rays are 3-7. After the Rays’ disappointing finish last year with their first losing season (80-82) since 2017, the crucial back-to-back series this week could determine if the team has bounced back.
