Saint Francis Baseball Ends Season Hot With Win Against Dixie County

The baseball regular season ended well Friday for the Saint Francis Wolves, who improved to 17-6 after a 6-1 victory against Dixie County at home.

The game ended early due to a severe storm stopped action in the bottom of the sixth. Saint Francis, however, pulled the game away from the claws of the Dixie County Bears (7-14) in the bottom of the fifth.

Fast Start

After a scoreless first for Dixie County, Saint Francis scored twice after singles from Dylan Diaz and Chris Durstine. They both reached home after a groundout from Colin Kruppacherry led to an error by the Bears that allowed the runners to score.

Sophomore starting pitcher Sawyer Williams contributed to the start by recording three strikeouts through two innings.

Defensive Battle

There were no scores in the third and fourth innings. Williams (six) and Dixie County starter Brayden Cobb (four) combined for 10 strikeouts in the first four innings.

Dixie County was able to escape the bottom of the third with runners on first and third with a strikeout, while Saint Francis escaped the bases the loaded in the top of the fourth after a groundout.

Dominant Finish

The fifth marked the game’s only score for the Bears off an error. A plethora of scoring took place with four hits and a walk in the fifth for the Wolves to move the lead to 7-1, highlighted by RBI doubles from Kruppacherry and Nate Muir.

Williams ended his start with 92 pitches through five innings, six strikeouts and no earned runs.

Relief pitcher Sander Williams pitched the final inning before the game was called by retiring the batters 1-2-3 after two groundouts and a flyout.

District Playoffs

Saint Francis begins the 1A-District 5 Tournament as the top seed and hosts four seed Peniel Baptist Academy (7-11) on Tuesday.

Since 2007, when data for the Wolves baseball team on Maxpreps.com began, the 2025 season marks the best winning percentage in program history at 17-6.
