After announcing her plan to enter the transfer portal earlier this week, former Gator center Ra Shaya Kyle has committed to the University of Miami.
Kyle entered the portal with a “do not contact” tag, indicating that she planned to reach out to programs that she was interested in. She transfers to Miami as a graduate student, and will have one year left of eligibility. This is the second time she has entered the transfer portal. The first was when she transferred from Purdue to the University of Florida.
Last season against the Hurricanes, she put up 14 points and 8 rebounds in 39 minutes.

Impact as a Gator
Kyle played 82 career games for the Gators across three seasons. In three years she scored a total of 987 points and had 638 rebounds. During the 2024-2025 season, Kyle averaged 14.1 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. She posted a double-double in the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) quarterfinal against Tech Tech. She had 21 points and 12 rebounds.
One of her greatest achievements during her time as a Gator was scoring her 1,000th point on January 30 against Vanderbilt.
Filling the void
With Ra Shaya Kyle leaving for Miami and Kylie Kitts in the transfer portal, the Gators will have to look for replacements. Currently, Gators women’s basketball team does not have a single recruit in the 2025 class. Meaning, they will have to look for replacements in the portal. The transfer portal closes on April 22, giving the gators twelve more days to make some moves.
