After an impressive postseason performance, the UF women’s basketball team will have to fill empty spots in its roster. Not only are there six graduating seniors on the team, but two players have also announced they will be parting ways with the program: Ra Shaya Kyle and Kylee Kitts.
Ra Shaya Kyle
Ra Shaya “Shay” Kyle is a senior center and one of the main faces for the Gators. Kyle was the leading rebounder for the team, averaging 8.8 per game. She was also the second-leading scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game behind Liv McGill‘s 16.4.
On an Instagram post, Kyle thanked coach Kelly Rae Finley, the Gator staff, fans and boosters. Shay went on to mention that the decision was a difficult one, but she was excited to see what lies ahead.
This will be the second time Kyle hits the transfer portal. She began her college basketball career at Purdue and transferred to Florida following her sophomore season with the Boilermakers.
Kyle hit the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, meaning she will reach out to programs that she is interested in rather than coaches initiating communication.

Kylee Kitts
Kylee Kitts is a freshman guard and forward from Oviedo. She is the sister of Chloe Kitts, a standout player on the South Carolina women’s basketball team.
Kitts reclassified to the class of 2024 after being a top-25 player in the 2025 recruiting class. She helped her high school team, the Hagerty Huskies, claim their first Florida High School Athletic Association state championship.
At UF, Kitts only stepped on the court for an exhibition game where she logged nine points and three rebounds. She went on to redshirt for the year, as she got acclimated with the college basketball environment.
On a social media post, Kitts thanked the university, her coaches, her teammates and the Florida fans. She mentioned wanting to explore her options at other basketball programs.
Like Kyle, Kitts enters the portal with a “do not contact” tag.

Looking Ahead
The women’s basketball program will need to tap into the transfer portal and find players who can make an impact on the team alongside McGill. Without Kyle, she will be the lone leader for the program.
