Gators lacrosse sophomore Ashley Dryer, from Elkridge, Maryland, earned Big 12 Defender of the Week, marking her first defender award and second Player of the Week honor in her collegiate career.

Florida won its second Big 12 match on Saturday against San Diego State, 21-9. Dyer scooped one ground ball, caused one turnover and only allowed the Aztec’s top scorer, Bella Tan, to score one goal.
Season Highs
So far this season, Dyer has started in 12 games. She holds the season high of 22 ground balls and second highest with 13 caused turnovers.
Against the team’s first Big 12 opponents, UC Davis, Dyer had a season high of four ground balls. Dyer has had six games with two or more ground balls.
Dyer has had a ground ball in 10 consecutive games and a caused turnover in six back-to-back games.
Gator’s Season Honors
Theresa Bragg has earned Defender of the Week two times this season, followed by Celeste Forte with one. Georgia Hoey has earned Goalkeeper of the Week two times. Clark Hamilton received Freshman of the Week three times, accompanied by Gabby Greene and Frannie Hahn with one. Gianna Monaco was awarded Goalkeeper of the Week and Kaitlyn Davies was given Midfielder of the Week honor earlier this season.
Looking Ahead
Florida will be taking a break from Big 12 matches to face Jacksonville University in Jacksonville at 4 p.m. Wednesday. They have moved up in the rankings to No. 4, their highest ranking this season.
