The Buchholz Bobcats girls lacrosse team improved to 11-4 on Thursday night after beating the visiting Santa Fe Raiders 13-3.
The Bobcats swept the season series against Santa Fe (5-9) after winning 16-3 in Alachua on Feb. 24.
Buchholz’s Jenna Davis scored the first goal with 7:30 left in the first quarter. By the end of the quarter the Bobcats led 3-0, with the scores coming from different players. Paloma Dudas, who leads the Bobcats in goals this season with 30, and Raelyn Henson both scored goals.
The Raiders put their first points on the board late in the second courtesy of junior Grace Miranda.
Buchholz quickly responded with one of its own, this one scored by Delaney Peters.

Offensive-Heavy Second Half
Sara Davis, who is second in goals scored this season for Buchholz with 23, scored the next three goals of the game by the midpoint of the third quarter, which gave the Bobcats a 7-1 lead. Gabby Kutz scored the Bobcats’ next goal with 4:14 to go in the third.
With 1:30 left in the third quarter, the Raiders scored their second goal, but at that point a win would require a dominant fourth quarter.
Pari Patel scored Buchholz’s 10th goal shortly after the start of the fourth, which Santa Fe quickly responded to with a goal of its own. The next three goals were for the Bobcats: Emmerson Horvath, Olivia Britton and Allison Diem, whose score was her first on the season and the last of the game.

Coach Marissa Higgins and the Bobcats are motivated to start the playoffs and they are using this win against Santa Fe as momentum.
“It’s a huge confidence boost and our girls thrive on that … it’s just one of those things that shows the fruits of their labor,” Higgins said when asked how huge the top seed would be for her and the Bobcats.
