Jordan Castell is taking his third season with the Florida football team as an opportunity to work on his communication and become a better player.
Castell, ranked the No. 10 safety in the class of 2023, was the leader in defensive snaps (775) for the Gators in 2024, but his main focus this offseason is not only on the field, but also off it.
A veteran among the defensive backs, Castell has risen to the challenge of being the leader and said he embraces “leading by example.”
Castell said he got stronger and faster, increasing to 215 pounds, with his core being “the strongest its ever been” during the offseason workouts.

New co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri is on a mission to elevate the performance of the defensive backs after being hired in January. Castell said after practices and meetings, he and Sunseri meet, and he has learned a lot of “ball” from him.

While there are many injuries to the secondary on the team, some may view it as a weakness, but the position group is young and full of depth.
Castell took it upon himself to share with his position group what this moment is all about: “Opportunity, a chance to play and to step up.”
