It was a tough night for the Charlotte Hornets, who lost their first game since being eliminated from playoff contention. The Orlando Magic triumphed on Charlotte’s court, 111-104, Tuesday night.

Orlando ended the first quarter only two points ahead of Charlotte. The Magic had a strong offensive drive in the second quarter, so the Hornets were down 10 points going into halftime. Charlotte gained momentum in the third quarter and reclaimed the lead until LaMelo Ball earned his fifth foul and had to sit on the bench. Without its top scorer, Charlotte couldn’t keep up and Orlando tied the game 83-83 going into the fourth.
The teams traded leads in the fourth quarter. With less than a minute left, officials fouled Ball out of the game, ultimately securing the win for the Magic.
Banchero’s Scoring Streak
Paolo Banchero‘s 32 points not only made him the highest scorer of the game, but it also inducted him into a new club: earning 30+ points in four straight games. Banchero is the first player to do so since Dwight Howard in 2011. Coincidentally, Howard was inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame on Monday.
