The Oak Hall Eagles girls lacrosse team defeated the Santa Fe Raiders 16-0 Tuesday on Senior Night.
Seniors Harper Johnson, Sarah Miller, Sydney DeBlock and Leila Sims were celebrated at Oak Hall. All four seniors scored, with Miller getting three goals and two assists. Miller, third in Oak Hall school history for goals scored, credits her success to relying on teammates like Isla Montes to feed her down low.
“I think we all really played as a team,” she says “and just kind of played for our seniors and for each other. I’m really happy with the turnout.”

First Half
It would be a Montes-to-Miller connection to kick off the Eagles’ dominant first half. While the Raiders (3-7) played good defense, it was no match for the Eagles’ ball movement and cutting that created opportunities for them. Oak Hall scored eight unanswered goals in the first quarter, when junior Raigan Trefzger collecting a hat track (three goals) in that time.

Things slowed down in the second quarter, as Oak Hall coach Molly Tice substituted younger players. Unlike their typical quick, organized offense, the Eagles looked more rigid and messy with turnovers and missed passes.
Despite this, Tice encouraged the Eagles at half time, reminding players to relax and get comfortable, especially with their non-dominant hand, to prepare for the stress of the postseason later on.
“Relax into it … keep [the ball] in front of you and fight to get the ball back” Tice said.
Second Half
The Eagles (10-1) picked up the pace again this half, scoring seven goals. Players were moving more efficiently and attacking the goal more aggressively. Sims, junior Elseya Wellehan and sophomore Colbie Johnson found the net.
DeBlock scored her first goal of the night in the final seconds. With her goal, all the seniors were on the board, the finishing touch of a dominant performance by the Eagles.
