Gators Set To Open Outdoor Season At FSU Relays

Florida Gators track and field will open the outdoor season at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee, Fla., on Thursday.

The two-day meet marks the beginning of the men’s team title defense and the women’s quest to the top. The Gators secured their third consecutive Men’s NCAA Outdoor title last year, edging out Auburn by one point with a total of 41. The women’s team came in second with 59 points to Arkansas, 63.

The meet on Thursday and Friday boasts the Gators against Georgia Tech, Florida State, Syracuse and Auburn among other schools.

2025 Debuts

All-SEC First Team star Alida van Daalen is set to make her 2025 debut at the FSU Relays. In 2024 she was crowned the SEC Outdoor champion in shot put and was named USTFCCCA Outdoor First Team All-American in discus and shot put. She’ll compete in both those events in Tallahassee.

Reheem Hayles, three time USTFCCCA First Team All-American last year, will also open his campaign. In 2024, he helped the Gators set their third and fourth best times in program history in the 4x400m relay at the NCAA and SEC championships.  The senior sprinter will compete in the same event at the FSU Relays.

Returning Athletes

Imani Washington, Garrett Fox, Nicholas Spikes and other athletes will continue their 2025 seasons.

Washington set a personal best (20.38m) in the weight throw at the SEC Indoor Championships earlier this year. Fox and Spikes set personal records in the 200m and 400m events respectively, at the conference championship meet as well.

On Deck

The Gators will have 40 athletes competing across 15 events.

Day 1 events include the women’s hammer throw, long jump, shot put and the men’s 400m hurdles. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. ET with live results found on pttiming.com.
