The Florida Gators women’s basketball team defeated second-seeded UNLV, 86-84, in an unforgettable battle in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The Gators advance to the WBIT quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Despite trailing for nearly 33 minutes, Florida’s Kenza Salgues hit a buzzer-beater to secure the victory.

How the Gators Did It
The Gators (18-17) showcased their capability to hit 3s for a season-high 14 3-pointers at a 56% clip. Jeriah Warren led the way with five of those 14, finishing with 18 points. Liv McGill had a game-high 22 points, while Salgues and Laila Reynolds added 13 points each. Florida’s balance helped overcome a strong UNLV team (26-8) and its defense made key stops late in the game.

In a game filled with momentum swings, Florida’s defensive efforts were key. The Gators forced 10 turnovers, converting them into 17 points. McGill was especially disruptive on defense, recording four steals.
