Selena Harris-Miranda
After scoring a 39.875 in the all-around competition, the UCLA transfer now holds the honor of SEC Gymnast of the Week. Two scores of 9.95, a 9.975 and a 10.0 would push her to the second highest all-around score in the country this season.
Harris-Miranda scored the first perfect 10.0 on the beam in her career. She said that the little things she and coach Jenny Rowland were working on in the gym finally paid off.
“When I committed here and started training in summer, I said ‘My one goal is I want to have a 10.0 on beam,'” Harris-Miranda said.
She is now ranked 7th nationally in the all-around.
Danie Ferris
Ferris scored the first 10.0 of her college career Friday. She stuck her vault for the first time since week one and felt confident the score would go her way. She said she was working hard over the last few weeks to get it perfect:
Ferris also received the honor of SEC Co-Specialist in week one for scoring a 9.95 on vault. She now shares the title with Missouri’s Helen Hu, who scored a perfect 10.0 on beam for the second time this season.
