Florida men’s and women’s track and field closed out Day 1 of the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday in Virginia Beach.
The Gators only sent nine athletes to participate in the two-day event, with three competing Friday.
First Results
Anthaya Charlton came in fourth in the women’s long jump with a 6.71m leap. Charlton, who set the world lead in the long jump earlier this season, closed out the indoor season by tying her best NCAA finish.

Hilda Olemomoi ran a 15:11.23 mark to earn a seventh-place finish in the women’s 5000m. She was .23 shy of NC State’s Grace Hartman from claiming sixth.
Beth Morley competed in the women’s mile prelims, but didn’t qualify. Her 4:45.98 performance had her over nine seconds short.

Asia Phillips will compete in the women’s triple jump on Day 2. She’s set to be the only freshman in the event.
On the men’s side, a team of Rios Prude Jr., Ashton Schwartzman, Vance Nilsson, Malique Smith-Band and Nicholas Spikes will compete in the men’s 4×400 relay.
With only three athletes who competed on Day 1, the Gators did not make either leaderboard.
Day 2 of the NCAA Indoor Championships continues on Saturday.
