Florida Soars

The Gators led from the beginning. On the vault, Florida achieved its highest event score of the season, putting up a 49.7. In her final regular-season home meet, fifth-year Victoria Nguyen scored a 9.95. Sophomore Danie Ferris recorded the first 10.0 of her college career and Selena Harris-Miranda came close with a 9.975.

Senior Riley McCusker concluded her home career with a fall on the bars. However, her teammates stepped up when she needed them. Harris-Miranda scored a 9.95. Alyssa Arana closed out the rotation with a career-high 9.95, giving the Gators their second highest bar score of the season (49.55).

On beam, Skylar Draser and Anya Pilgrim led off with a 9.9 and 9.925, respectively. Senior Leanne Wong scored a 9.95. Harris-Miranda lit up Exactech Arena with a 10.0 on beam, the first on the apparatus in her career, which she said was a goal when she came to Florida.

Freshman Skye Blakely stepped into the exhibition spot, returning to the balance beam for the first time since tearing her Achilles injury less than a year ago. Coach Jenny Rowland said she is ecstatic to see her performing on the event again.

Nguyen led off floor for the Gators with a 9.925 to tie her career best. Freshman Taylor Clark put up a career-high 9.95 before Wong scored a perfect 10. Harris-Miranda and Ferris followed with a 9.95 and a 9.9, respectively. Florida beat its season best on floor by a full tenth, closing out senior night with a 49.725.

Kentucky Scores Big

The Wildcats put up their highest road score of the year following a season-best 197.925 against Arkansas last week.

The bar rotation was highlighted with a 9.925 by fifth-year Hailey Davis, contributing to the team’s 49.3. Kentucky failed to stick a single vault, but still scored a 49.375 on the apparatus.

After scoring the second-highest floor score in program history (49.725) last week against Arkansas, the Wildcats scored a 49.475. Three scores of 9.925 from Skylar Killough-Wilhelm, Creslyn Brose and Davis closed out the apparatus.

On beam, Kentucky hit its highest score of the year. A 49.575 was made up of five scores over 9.9. The sophomore Brose led her team with a 9.95 on the apparatus.

All-Around Dominance

Harris-Miranda scored a 39.875 in the all-around competition. This would surpass the highest all-around score in the country by 0.05, previously held by Olympian Jade Carey (Oregon State).

Wong ended her time in the O’Dome with a second-place finish, scoring a 39.725. Killough-Wilhelm finished third with a 39.6. With an exhibition on floor, Pilgrim performed in all four events for the first time since Feb. 7.

A Fond Farewell

The Gators honored eight in this year’s senior night presentation.

Sloane Blakely, Bri Edwards, McCusker and Wong and fifth-years Ellie Lazzari and Nguyen were recognized. Student manager Will Gomez and photographer and former Florida gymnast Morgan Hurd were also honored.

After a long, emotional night, Wong reflected on her final go-around in the O’Dome:

Gator great Trinity Thomas was in the house to surprise her former teammates on her big night.
