Freshman Nico Wheeler made his first start as a varsity player for P.K. Yonge (7-3). In the two innings he pitched, he had zero walks, four strikeouts and only gave up one hit. In the top of the second, Wheeler struck out three back-to-back batters, a strong debut on the mound. Freshman Jackson Pruitt also made his first varsity pitching stint, facing five batters, walking two of them and striking out one with no damage. The pitchers combined to record zero wild pitches and struck out five — showing promise for the future of P.K. Yonge baseball
Unstable On Mound
Ocala Christian (0-9) struggled on the mound, giving up nine hits, 18 RBI, eight stolen bases and hitting eight batters.

Notable performances from P.K. Yonge’s offense include sophomore Tyler Belleville, who had two runs, one RBI and freshman Noah Grogan, with one run and a RBI triple.
Freshmen Spotlight
The P.K. Yonge freshmen stood out, maintaining a high level of play no matter the opposition. Veteran P.K. Yonge coach Rob Brunson explained how he enjoyed sending out his youngest players, watching them get reps in and gaining experience so early in their careers.
