The Buchholz Bobcats flag football team defeated the host Gainesville Hurricanes 35-12 on Thursday.
The visiting Bobcats (7-0) scored the first points of the game when Isabella Alexander connected with Taylor Booth on a mid-range touchdown pass. Booth’s second and final score of the game came when she hauled in a sensational one-handed catch. Booth also finished the game with an interception on defense.
Booth’s performance was no surprise considering she leads the Bobcats in touchdowns and interceptions, with seven and 10, respectively. Her 10 interceptions are the third most by a player in Florida.

Bobcats’ Tenacious First Half
Receiving touchdowns from Suzanne Bryne and Atera Clark, along with a rushing touchdown from Alexander that came just before halftime, fueled the Bobcats’ hot start.
Entering the game having allowed only 20 points all season, the Bobcats continued their dominance by preventing the Hurricanes (0-7) from reaching the end zone before the break.

Too Little, Too Late
Treazure Richardson finally put the Hurricanes on the scoreboard with a scramble that went for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats responded, though, when Dunae Chappell intercepted Richardson on the Hurricanes’ extra-point attempt. Nazarri Allen scored the Hurricanes’ second and last touchdown on the last play of the game.
Buchholz coach Scott Jamison attributes the Bobcats’ success to his players’ effort.
“They are willing to work hard and do what needs to be done,” Jamison said.
When asked of his attitude toward the upcoming spring break, Jamison expressed little concern. Still, he believes the break will benefit his players and he is excited for the challenging matchups following the week off.
