Gesing Qualifies for NCAA Championships to Open Zone B Competition

Florida sophomore Conor Gesing secured a spot at the 2025 NCAA Championships on Sunday, finishing third in the men’s one-meter springboard to close out the opening day of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. This marks Gesing’s second consecutive NCAA appearance in the event.

Strong Start from Gesing
Gesing’s combined score of 699.30 came after placing second in the preliminary round with a 357.00. A standout dive in finals—a reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck that scored 64.40—helped propel him from seventh to third, locking in his qualifying position.

Donald Narrowly Misses Top Seven
Peyton Donald showed early momentum, sitting in first place entering the final round of prelims. However, a sixth-round score of 30.00 dropped him to 10th. He rebounded in finals with scores of 63.00 and 67.50, finishing ninth overall with a score of 668.10—just shy of the automatic qualifying positions.

Gonzalez Stays in the Hunt
Jesus Gonzalez opened strong in prelims, topping the first round with a 68.20. Despite slipping in the later rounds, he advanced to finals, where he remained just outside the top seven throughout the event. He concluded the day in 11th place with a combined score of 664.35.

More Chances to Qualify Ahead
Donald and Gonzalez still have opportunities to qualify during the remaining days of the meet. Divers can secure additional NCAA bids by finishing in the top 12 of other events if they have already qualified in one.

What’s Next
The Zone B Championships continue Monday with the women’s one-meter preliminaries at noon, followed by finals at 2:45 p.m. The men’s three-meter event begins with prelims at 4:45 p.m. and concludes with finals at 7 p.m.
