Gators Qualify Six for NCAA Championships on Day Two of Zone B Meet

Florida diving had a dominant showing on day two of the NCAA Zone B Championships, securing six NCAA Championship berths across both the men’s and women’s competitions on Monday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.

Sophomore Camyla Monroy opened the day with a first-place finish in the women’s one-meter event, tallying a combined score of 632.60. After qualifying third in prelims with 304.60, she sealed the win with a 62.00-point final dive. The victory improves on her 600.00 score from last year’s Zones and ensures she can advance to NCAA Championships in the three-meter and platform events with a top-12 finish in either.

After narrowly missing the one-meter qualifying cut on Sunday, Peyton Donald and Jesus Gonzalez rebounded with top-eight finishes in the men’s three-meter competition to officially punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships. Donald posted seven scores over 60, including two dives at 73.50 in the fifth round, finishing fifth overall with a 751.95 total. Gonzalez, seeded seventh entering finals, held steady to place seventh with 736.85.

Already qualified in the one-meter, sophomore Conor Gesing added a second NCAA event to his postseason slate after placing ninth in the three-meter. Entering finals seeded 13th, Gesing climbed the rankings to finish with a 722.80 combined score, well within the top 12 needed to qualify in a second event.
