The Santa Fe College baseball team split its doubleheader against Miami Dade College on Saturday at Harry Tholen Field, losing the first game 14-7 and winning the second 7-6.
This comes after the Saints lost to the Sharks 15-6 on Thursday at the Kendall Campus baseball field in Miami. Saturday’s win snapped Santa Fe’s five-game losing streak.
Game One
Rain delayed the first game, which started at 12:15 p.m.
The Saints (12-14, 5-7 in the Citrus Conference) started the game well, with a run in the first inning. In the third inning, Ryan Chase hit a run-scoring single to put the Saints up 3-2. Erik Blair then hit a two-run home run to extend Santa Fe’s lead to 5-2.
Freshman pitcher Matthew Pagan kept the score at 5-2 after he threw a scoreless fourth inning. The Saints led the game 7-2 after sophomore Zach DeJesus hit a two-run home run.
