Florida softball infielder Reagan Walsh swung her way to SEC Player of the Week honors after a dominant week at the plate. The award marked the second SEC weekly honor of her career and she shared the distinction with South Carolina’s Arianna Rodi.

Pitchers Beware
Walsh hit four home runs over the weekend at the Florida Invitational, helping lead the Gators to four run-rule wins. Against Western Michigan on Saturday, the senior hit her second grand slam of the season and the fifth of her career. She also matched her career-high in hits with three and hit a season-high five RBIs against the Broncos.

In all five games last week, Walsh had multi-hit performances, batting .668 for the week. Seven of her hits went for extra bases, including three doubles along with the home runs. The California native hit home runs in three straight games on her way to a 1.625 slugging percentage for the week. She also drove in a team-best 11 runs in the Gators 5-0 stretch.
She joins fellow Californian Taylor Shumaker as the second Gator to earn an SEC honor this season. Shumaker was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week in early February.
Staying Hot
Big performances at the plate are nothing new for Walsh. She already has 23 RBIs this season and is batting .345 across Florida’s 24 games. Last season, she finished with a .375 batting average and 19 home runs. With six homers already this season, Walsh looks to out do herself, especially in her senior season.

As a leader on this Florida team, Walsh’s consistency at the plate is a huge part of the Gators success. She is a huge part of the lineup and can drive in runs with just a quick swing of the bat. Walsh is also extremely consistent in the field with a .991 fielding percentage so far this year. If she can keep up her strong play, the Gators should have no problem winning against any opponent they face this season.
What’s Next
The No. 3 Gators have a four game road slate this week with a midweek game against Houston before heading to College Station for a weekend series against Texas A&M. Wednesday’s game against Houston will be broadcast on ESPN+ with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
