Gators Golf Maintains 10th Place At Southern Highlands Collegiate

The No. 11 Gators men’s golf team maintained its 10th-place spot during the second round of competition Monday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas.

The team shot a round two score of +7 to increase its score to +26 through 36 holes.

Coming in first toward the team score, Jack Turner scored 71 (-1). He made four birdies and launched himself into T27 (previously T51). Turner recorded his team-best 10th round of par or better and 26th all-time in all of his career rounds.

Close behind, Luke Poulter followed with a 74 (+2, T31). However, he came back in his last seven holes with an initial score of +4. Ian Gilligan and Zack Swanwick both shot rounds of 75 (+3) for T39.

Matthew Kress shot a 70 (-2), climbing up the individual leaderboard to T16 (previously T51). Kress was among the 15 golfers to finish under par in the second round.  This was a big improvement from his opening round (+6), scoring three birdies and one bogey.

Rylan Shim finishes out the lineup with a score of 76 (+4) in  T74.

Leaderboard

Auburn continues to hold the top spot, now with an overall team of 2 under, with the rest of the leaderboard also maintained its places with UNLV (+1), Pepperdine (+11), New Mexico (+12) and Virginia (+16)

Auburn and UNLV have a wide gap between the next teams, which is sure to give them an advantage going into Day 3 of the competition.

Final Round

Tee times for the final round begin at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday with Kress and close out at 1 p.m. with Turner.
