Stage Set For NBA All-Star Weekend

The NBA All-Star reserves were announced Thursday. All selected players will travel to San Francisco to participate in this year’s All-Star Weekend on Feb. 14-16.

The NBA All-Star Game is Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. While there are familiar faces, there are three players who earned their first career All-Star appearance: Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley and Alperen Sengun. All-Star weekend consists of many entertaining events, featuring the Rising Stars Game, Three Pont Contest, Slam Dunk Contest and the All-Star Game.

Eastern Conference All-Stars

This year’s Eastern Conference All-Stars hold true to some of the youngest and emerging talents in the league. Every player in the starting lineup is part of a top-four team in their conference. The Knicks superstar tandem, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, are the first Knicks duo to become All-Star starters since 1975. The other three starters, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum and Donavan Mitchell, are all familiar with the All-Star spotlight. To round out the East, the players who earned reserve spots are Jaylen Brown, Cunningham, Darius Garland, Tyler Herro, Damian Lillard, Mobley and Pascal Siakam.

Western Conference All-Stars

In contrast, the starters who earned this role in the West are some familiar faces. Lebron James will participate in his 21st All-Star game in a row, an NBA record amount of appearances. Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are no strangers to this recognition as they have both received double-digit appearances in their career. Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and current MVP front-runner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander round out the starters for the West. The reserves for the West include Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, James Harden, Jaren Jackson Jr., Sengun, Victor Wembanyama and Jalen Williams.
