The MLB wild card matchups are off to a hot start. Some teams are in prime position, and others have their backs against the wall.
Blue Jays vs. Twins
The Minnesota Twins claimed victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in a 3-1 win yesterday. The game featured the Twins breaking out an early lead and the Blue Jays never being able to recover. This victory holds monumental value in the state of Minnesota, snapping the Twins’ 18-game postseason losing streak. This is a moment Twins fans have been desperately waiting for, and their energy undoubtably swayed the game.
“It was out of this universe out there on the field. The fans took over the game,” Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said.

Royce Lewis ended up being the hero in Minnesota, helping the Twins grab the driver seat. Crushing back-to-back home runs, with one resulting in an RBI, Lewis was responsible for the only runs Minnesota scored all game. Not a bad performance for a postseason debut.
Game two is Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., and Twins fans are sure to bring the same energy once again.
As for the Blue Jays, their postseason hopes could come crashing down right before their eyes, for the second year in a row. With the season on the line, Toronto is expected to have all hands on deck and go deep into the bullpen. Combine that with the rowdy Twins crowd, and game two is sure to be a battle.
Diamondbacks vs. Brewers
There’s trouble in Milwaukee as the Diamondbacks upset the Brewers in a 6-3 comeback victory. With three homeruns, two that were featured in the third inning, the diamondbacks caught wind and overcame an early Brewer push. Milwaukee was unable to score a run after the second inning as the Diamondback defense made plays across the field.

The Brewers are one loss away from an immensely disappointing postseason run.
After winning the NL Central, expectations from many Brewer fans were nothing short of a World Series. However, their hopes might be diminished before they can even begin if Milwaukee cannot escape the Wild Card round.
Although NL Central champions, optimism is not high for Brewer fans.
Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly are scheduled to pitch the next two games for Arizona, and they have had Milwaukee’s number all year. Blend that with the Brewers’ below-average batting statistics, but league high pitching ratings, and a low-scoring affair might be in store.
Game two takes place Wednesday night with first pitch set for 7:08.
