Gators Soccer Looking for Back-to-back Wins

Homecoming weekend at UF will kick off with the 5-3-3 Gators soccer team hosting the 6-3-3 Mississippi State Bulldogs Thursday at 6 p.m.

This match will be the second straight in SEC play for the Orange & Blue.

Previous Match

The Gators are coming off of their first conference win after defeating LSU 4-0 in dominating fashion. Freshman Megan Hinnenkamp led the attack with two goals.

Two players received SEC honors after the game. Hinnenkamp is now the league’s first to receive multiple SEC Freshman of the Week awards. Redshirt Senior Daviana Vaka was voted as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Hinnenkamp currently leads all SEC freshman with six goals through the month of September.

The Bulldogs tied with the Tennessee Volunteers 3-3 in their most recent match on Friday. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, Mississippi State was outscored 3-1 to end play.

Thursday’s Game

The Gators face an important battle on Thursday as they seek their second-straight conference win of the season.

Following a dominant win against LSU, Florida will look to transfer that momentum into this match.

The Gators currently rank ninth in the SEC in shots per game at 9.67 and tied for seventh in goals per game at one.

This game will mark a very important match in SEC play, as both teams will head into Thursday with a 1-2-1 conference record.

Florida will look to extend the series lead versus Mississippi State. The Gators currently lead the all-time series 16-2-2, with their last match coming in 2021, in which the Florida won 2-1.
