Two highly touted prospects for the Gators football team will be showcasing their skills in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game on Dec. 16. Florida commitments Jamonta Waller and Kahnen Daniels hope to put on a show for the last time on a high school gridiron before joining the program.
A Force on the Edge
Waller, a five-star defensive end, has been making waves throughout his high school career, earning him the No. 16 spot in the 2024 ESPN 300 recruiting rankings. The Picayune (Miss.) Memorial High School senior committed to play for the Gators in June. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Waller possesses all the right qualities as a game-changing defensive player who may see immediate playing time on Saturdays. Waller has racked up 33 total tackles and six sacks during his senior season for the 3-2 Maroon Tide. Waller is a three-sport athlete, also lettering in basketball and track and field.
A Tank on the Turf
Daniels has shown the ability to dominate on the ground. The four-star running back caught the attention of Florida head coach Billy Napier and his staff early on. The consensus four-star back committed to Florida over offers from 18 programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Oregon and Texas A&M. After rushing for 2,032 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, the 5-foot-11 Daniels has excelled as a senior at West Point High School, including a 427-yard, seven-touchdown performance in a 50-40 win over Noxubee County in September.
One More for the Road
Both Waller and Daniels will cap off their high school careers in December at the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game. The two will join forces on Mississippi’s roster. The game takes place on Dec. 16 at Southern Miss’ M.M. Roberts Stadium. It will allow the two to compete amongst some of the most premiere talent in the Southeast region. When all is said and done, Waller and Daniels plan on joining an elite recruiting class spearheaded by Napier and Co.
