By Caroline King and Taylorann Eidam

The Saint Francis Catholic Wolves celebrated senior night Monday with a 3-0 sweep of the Hamilton County Trojans.

The Wolves advanced to 8-3 on the high school volleyball season and to 7-1 on their home court. The Trojans fall to 1-8.

Outside hitter DJ Jourdain brings the energy to the Saint Francis volleyball team after winning the second set against Hamilton County on Monday at home.

Back-and-Forth Competition

In each set, the Wolves and the Trojans were back and forth. Matching point for point. However, each set concluded with the Wolves going on a run.

The first set was taken by the Wolves 25-19 by going on a 7-1 run.

Set No. 2 ended on a 5-0 run with senior Angelina Vuto having back-to-back kills to win the set.

The deciding set ended with Vuto getting the last kill for a 25-22 win.

Senior Night Celebration

The Wolves celebrated six seniors: Brinda DeAngleis, Ava Brunetti, Vuto, Kenzie Moran, Lexy Bhatia and Dalelia Jourdain.

Saint Francis coach Erin Livingston said this senior night win was “bittersweet … it means they will be missed next year.”

Livingston praised team leaders DeAngleis, the Wolves’ libero, and outside hitter Jourdain.

“The positivity that she (DJ Jourdain) has, keeping everybody upbeat, it changes the mood,” Livingston said.

Senior Leadership

DeAngleis was a huge factor in the win. DeAngleis began playing volleyball when she was in third grade.

A varsity player since freshman year, DeAngleis said it has been “fun to see how everyone has grown. I hope this leadership role helps me in the future.”
