Undefeated Gator Volleyball Team Faces FSU On Tuesday Night

The 7-0 Florida volleyball team is set to face the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee at 6 p.m. today.

The match will be televised on the ACC Network and heard on ESPN 98.1-FM/850-AM WRUF.

The Resumes

The Gators ‘ No. 3 ranking came after wins over top-10 teams Stanford, Penn State and Minnesota. Florida State, on the other hand, is bringing a 5-3 record. The Seminoles are coming off a sweep of North Texas.

Florida State’s win marked coach Chris Poole’s 900th, making him the eighth Division I head coach to do that. Gators coach Mary Wise has notched more than 1,000 wins of her own.

Key Players

Gator freshman Kennedy Martin earned Freshman of the Week honors in the SEC on Monday, marking her third SEC weekly honor in three weeks. She is the first freshman to earn an SEC honor each of their first three weeks in Florida history.

For the Seminoles, outside hitter Audrey Rothman has 76 kills, which lead the team. Middle blocker Khori Louis is third in the nation with a .545 hitting percentage.

The Series

The Gators lead the all-time series 44-21. The Gators are 37-7 since Wise took over the program. The last time they matched up was Sept. 13th, 2022 in Gainesville. The Gators won, 3-0.

Florida State’s last victory came in 2021 when they defeated Florida 3-1 in Tallahassee.

Last Time Out

The Gators last stepped onto the court for the Gator Invitational, which involved Winthrop, Clemson and Sacramento State. They swept the competition, although they were given a fight by Sacramento State. Martin led the Gators with a team-high 41 kills on the weekend.

Florida State had strong offensive production in the win over North Texas. The team had a .396 hitting percentage and combined for 46 kills. Junior outside hitter Audrey Koenig registered nine kills followed by junior middle blocker Kiari Robey, who finished with eight kills.

What’s Next

The Gators close the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 3 p.m. home match Sunday against the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers, while Florida State travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for a battle with TCU at 7 p.m. Friday.
