The Big Apple debut for Aaron Rodgers as a New York Jet last night was cut short due to what was just confirmed as a torn Achilles.

Rodgers stayed down after being sacked by Buffalo’s Leonard Floyd on the fourth play of the opening drive. He was seen grabbing his leg after the play before the Jets training staff assisted him to the New York sideline.
“The Achilles injury is the one that everybody worries about,” Adam Schefter said. “There were doctors that saw the play that think they saw his calf reverberate on the play.”

Immediately after the game, X-rays were taken, and all came back negative.
“What we know so far is that the X Rays were negative, but that doesn’t mean that there is not a more severe injury,” Schefter said.
Final confirmation of the injury will come after Rodgers has an MRI done on Tuesday. Jets coach, Robert Saleh fears the injury was a torn Achilles.
“The MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is already going to happen, so prayers tonight but it’s not good. I hurt for Aaron and how much he has invested in all of this. I’m still going to hold onto hope but my heart is with Aaron right now.”
“He’s in the tent, he’s hurt,” Peyton Manning said, “Holy cow. I cannot believe this.”

With this injury forcing Rodgers to miss the remainder of the season, the Jets will have to rely on backup quarterback Zach Wilson. He led the Jets to a 22-16 OT win against the Bills. Wilson will be put to the test next Sunday when the Jets travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys.
