Tampa Wing Another Series
The Tampa Bay Rays were able to solidify themselves as wild-card favorites as they took three games out of a four-game set after defeating the Seattle Mariners Sunday, 6-3. With this series win, the Rays now sit three games behind the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the AL East. Josh Lowe went 3-4 with an RBI in Sunday’s game. Harold Ramirez and Luke Raley also had a two-RBI game as well. Starting pitcher Zach Eflin went five innings with seven hits and three earned runs. This is the second start in a row that Eflin has given up three earned runs. With this win, the Rays have now won five of their last six games and now hold the first wild card spot with an 8.5-game cushion over the Mariners.

Looking Ahead To Minnesota
The Rays will travel to Minnesota to face the Twins in a three-game series next. The Twins currently have a 7.5-game lead for first place in the American League Central. These two teams last played in early June, when the Rays swept the Twins at Tropicana Field. Luke Raiey had a good series in particular. He had multiple RBIs and a home run in that series earlier in the season.

Unlike the last time these two teams faced off, the Rays are able to have Tyler Glasnow on the mound for this series. Glasnow is one of the starters on this rotation with an ERA below three. As a matter of fact, the first game of this series will feature the starter with the lowest starter’s ERA of each respective team. The Rays are lucky to avoid Twins starter Pablo Lopez, who leads the team in wins and strikeouts. The Rays are looking to get on a roll before a big four-game series against the Orioles in Baltimore over the weekend.
