Texas Tech Head Coach Tim Tadlock Breaks Down Gainesville Regional Play

The NCAA College Baseball Tournament begins play Friday in the Gainesville Regional games. Texas Tech will face Connecticut in the first game of the regional and Tech head coach Tim Tadlock was asked about his thoughts about his team making a regional.

Interview Highlights

Tadlock discussed a myriad of topics but most of the questions asked had to do with the amount of faith that the Texas Tech coach has in his younger team. The Red Raiders finished 12-12 in Big 12 conference play this season, the program’s first time since 2013 not to end above .500 in conference play. To boot, the Red Raiders face the 43-15 UConn Huskies.

Speaking of the University of Florida, Tadlock had much to say about the first seed in the Gainesville Regional. Although the Red Raiders have much to worry about when it comes to the UConn Huskies, Tadlock was also asked about his opinion of the Florida baseball team.

Tadlock had high praise for his younger team. He stressed that the closeness and support of his team would benefit the program. In addition, Tadlock mentioned depth and program experience in post season play as factors that could play in their favor.

When asked about the hitting capability of the teams in this tournament, Tadlock took a moment to look back at the rest of the season to make observations about the state of college baseball in general. Texas Tech’s attitude coming into this regional tournament seems to be that dealing with some kind of adversity is par for the course.

Texas Tech plays U Conn at noon on Friday.,
