The St. Francis Wolves took on the Cedar Key Sharks on April 20.
Senior Night
It was St. Francis senior night in which the lone senior, #1 Mason Bell, ran the show.
Bell started the night on the mound and had six strikeouts and allowed few hits. Bell also had an impressive night hitting with three hits and two Rbi’s. He pitched all through the first four innings and allowed only one run. The Wolves switched pitchers in the top of the fifth when they were ahead comfortably, 14-1.
This game was all wolves. They finished the game with the second most runs they’ve scored all season, 14. Bell gave up only one run the whole game, quite the showing for his last home game as a wolf.
In the top of the 1st inning, the Wolves had lockdown defense throwing out the first, second and third batters at first. At the bottom of the first inning, Bell hit a single to start off the rally. Nicolas Gomez-Vera hit an RBI triple to bring in Bell for the first run of the game. The Wolves scored two more that inning giving them a 3-0 lead heading into the second.
All Wolves All Game
The Wolves improved their lead steadily throughout the game. They scored three runs in the first, five runs in the second, one in the third, and five in the fourth to give them the mercy rule winning. It was all Wolves all game.
The Wolves are having a below-average year at 8-10. Hopefully, they can pick up momentum from the win and carry it into the last part of the season and into playoffs.
