Florida Gators Lacrosse Hosts Vanderbilt on Senior Night

The No. 8 Florida Gators lacrosse team is back in action and will welcome the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday at Donald R. Dizney Stadium for senior night. Florida is coming off a 10-5 win against the East Carolina Pirates and currently hold a 11-3 overall record on the season. They’ve won six consecutive games thus far. On the other hand, Vanderbilt is coming in off a 13-17 loss against Coastal Carolina and sit 3-10 overall on the year.

The History

The Florida Gators and the Vanderbilt Commodores lacrosse team have played 16 times in all-time history. The last time that the Gators lost to the Commodores was in 2010. The Gators hold the advantage 14-2 and currently have a 14-game winning streak against the Commodores.

Additionally, the Gators largest margin of victory against the Vanderbilt Commodores was 16-2 in 2016. During their most recent meeting on May 5, 2022, Florida stomped the Commodores 18-7.

Key Players

Florida has been ringing bells in the American Athletic Conference this week following their impressive conference performance last week against the East Carolina Pirates. Four players were honored for their hard work.

First, Emma LoPinto was named Attacker of the Week, which serves as her ninth honor this season after averaging 4.50 points per game. Redshirt junior Sarah Reznick also added her fourth accolade to her record after earning Goalkeeper of the Week. Reznick posted a stellar 11 saves with a .688 save percentage in 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, Theresa Bragg and Catherine Flaherty earned their first AAC weekly honor this season. Bragg tabbed the Freshman of the Week for her strong defensive play while Flaherty was named on the Honor Roll after captaining the defense that only allowed 5.5 goals per game in the last two match-ups.

What’s next?

The Gators will play their final game home game of the 2022-23 season on Saturday. They will be honoring multiple seniors and hope to protect home field against their AAC rival, the Vanderbilt Commodores. The opening draw is slated for noon. Fans not in attendance can catch the action live on ESPN+.
