Santa Fe shuts out PK Yonge in pitchers duel

The Santa Fe Raiders improved their record to 14-6 with a 4-0 road win at PK Yonge (13-7). Dylan Evans pitched a complete game for the Raiders, allowing no runs and just five hits.

Santa Fe Scores Early

The visiting Raiders came out focused at the plate to start the game. Starting pitcher Dylan Evans gave himself some early run support with an RBI double. Dalton Dampier also added to the early lead making it 2-0 after the first. The Blue Wave tried to answer in the bottom half of the second, starting with two leadoff singles. They would not score and the game remained 2-0.

Dominant Pitching

After giving up the early runs, Lane Sparkman settled in with multiple quick innings. On the other side, Santa Fe continued to not allow runs. Pitching was not only dominant but also the defense. A few nice catches and even a pickoff of a runner to end the 4th inning were some of the highlights. It would be 3-0 going into the 7th inning.

Raiders Shut the Door

In the 7th inning, Santa Fe opened with a single and hit by pitch. Cooper Ruppert would bring home one run on a single making it 4-0. PK Yonge was unable to get any rally in the final frame going down 1-2-3 to end the game and give Santa Fe the victory. Looking ahead for both teams, the Raiders will return home Tuesday to face rival North Marion. PK Yonge will look to bounce back Tuesday at Palatka.
