Top Dogs

The Tennessee Volunteers lead the SEC in both overall record (31-5) and conference record (10-2). Leading the way for Tennessee offensively has been outfielder Kiki Milloy. She leads Tennessee in batting average (.420), home runs (15) and RBI (39). Shutting the door defensively for the Vols has been pitcher Ashley Rogers. She is 12-1 with an ERA of 0.74.

Right behind Tennessee are the Georgia Bulldogs at 32-8 (11-3 SEC). A big part of the Bulldogs’ success this season has been the play of their pitching staff. Georgia has posted a team ERA of 2.01 so far this season. The ace in Georgia’s rotation is graduate student Shelby Walters. She has a 1.31 ERA and a 15-1 record in 28 appearances so far this season.

The defending SEC champions Arkansas Razorbacks sit at third place in the SEC with an overall record of 28-12, 9-6 versus SEC opponents.

Who’s hot, who’s not

After a rocky start to SEC play, the Texas A&M Aggies swept Mississippi State to get back above .500. Freshman Keely Williams has stepped up as of late as she currently holds a four game hit-streak. She has four RBI during that stretch as well.

After sweeping South Carolina to start SEC play, Mississippi State’s season has taken a turn for the worse. The Bulldogs have lost eight consecutive SEC games since starting 3-0. This has dropped them all the way down to the bottom three of the SEC standings.

Aside from Tennessee, Georgia and Arkansas, the middle of the pack in the SEC is very close as we head down the final stretch of the season. Teams from 4-9 in the SEC standings are separated by only one game. Auburn and Kentucky currently sit at 7-5, with Texas A&M right behind them at 8-7. LSU, Florida and Alabama are all tied for seventh with a record of 6-6.

SEC Softball Tournament
