The Eastside Rams were looking forward to closing its season out strong, and that started on Thursday night when they faced Bronson. Eastside’s four seniors showed out in a major way as the Rams cruised past the Eagles.
Slow Start
Bronson crossed the plate first thanks to a Bradley Smith single to right field, bringing in Tristen O’Neal to take a 1-0 lead. Liam Meeks then singled to bring in another run for the Eagles and increase their lead to 2-0.
Ace on the Mound
Senior Miles Archer got the start on the bump for Eastside. After Bronson pushed across two runs in the bottom of the second, Archer settled in. In a game that lasted just four innings, he went the distance. He struck out four batters, while allowing only one earned run on six hits. Archer would receive more than enough help from the offense in the following innings as he kept the Eagles scoreless to end the game.
Bottom of the 4th
The Rams had a productive third inning, scoring five runs and allowed the Rams to take a 6-2 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Then, Eastside had a massive offensive showing in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 11 runs in the frame. The team almost went through their batting lineup three times in the inning. Hitting doubles and stealing bases, the Rams could not be stopped.
Thomas Shay lead the Rams in the inning offensively, tallying four RBIs. The game quickly escalated and it felt like Eastside scored on every at-bat. Bronson would not help their case, throwing four wild pitches to bring in a total of four runs, and continue to move Ram runners around the diamond.
Senior Spotlight
Eastside’s offense was unstoppable on senior night, with the four seniors leading the way. Archer helped himself help at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Infielder Maui Schwartz was also impressive, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Seniors Nicholas Eichel and Rowan McDonald also played their role in the offensive onslaught. Eichel recorded a hit, a run and an RBI, while McDonald scored one of the games final runs after drawing a walk in the fourth.
With the seniors leading the way, Eastside won the game after four innings via the 15-run mercy rule. The final score was 17-2.
Eastside’s next game is on Tuesday, where they will face the Sharks of Cedar Key. The Rams will have two games after that matchup, and will look to end the season on a high note.
