NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four Preview

The NCAA Women’s basketball final four starts Friday. LSU faces Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. while defending champions South Carolina play Iowa at 9 p.m.

LSU vs Virginia Tech

No. 3 LSU is set to play No. 1 Virginia Tech for a spot in the championship. The Tigers head into this game with a 32-2 record, while the Hokies enter with a  31-4 record. The winner of either team will ensure a first-time appearance for both program’s in the NCAA championship.

Louisiana State University Tigers

The Tigers has reached the final four for the first time since 2008. LSU is coming off a win against the University of Miami Hurricanes last Sunday 54-42. LSU forward Angel Reese had a double-double and was recently named to the WBCA All-American. Reese’s last double-double on Sunday was her 32nd of the season, an SEC single season record. The Tigers will look to defeat the Hokies Friday and go to the national championship for the first time in the program’s history.

Virginia Tech Hokies

No. 1 Virginia Tech Hokies will make history when they play in their first NCAA final four in the program’s history Friday. The Hokies had never gotten past the sweet sixteen until it defeated No. 4 Tennessee and proceeded to beat  No. 3 Ohio State last Saturday.  Virginia Tech is currently on a 15-game winning streak and will look to continue their winning ways starting at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Iowa vs South Carolina

No. 2  Iowa will play No. 1 South Carolina at 9 p.m. The Iowa Hawkeyes are coming into the game with a record of 30-6. The South Carolina Gamecocks are undefeated and hold a record of 36-0.

Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa is set to play in their first final four since 1993. Last Sunday, the Hawkeyes defeated the  No. 5 Louisville Cardinals convincingly 97-83. Guard Caitlin Clark recorded the first-ever 40-point triple-double in march madness history. Clark was recently named Naismith National Player of the Year and will look to upset the undefeated Gamecocks.

South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina is looking to win back-to-back NCAA championships  Last Monday, the No. 1 Gamecocks defeated No. 2 Maryland to advance to the final four and extend their undefeated streak to 36 in a row. Aliyah Boston, forward, led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Gamecocks win against the Terrapins. Boston is a two-time Naismith National Player of the Year winner, winning the the last 2 prior to Clark. South Carolina will go to their second NCAA championship game in a row if they beat Iowa Friday starting at 9 p.m.

Final Four to Championship

Each team will look to make history Friday. LSU vs Virginia Tech is at 7 p.m. while South Carolina vs Iowa is at 9 p.m. The NCAA National Championship game will be played Sunday.
