Virginia Tech women’s basketball is headed for Dallas and the Final Four after the Hokies defeated Ohio State 84-74.
Ohio State
The No. 3 Buckeyes delivered shockwaves to the fans last week as they took down No. 2 seed UConn. They snapped the Huskies 14-year streak of appearing in a Final Four. Defeating the Huskies sent them to the Elite Eight for just the fourth time in program history.
In Monday night’s matchup, the Buckeyes did not go down without a fight. After holding the lead for majority of the first half, the team entered half time trailing by three.
As the clock winded down in the fourth quarter, they were down 13 points. With under a minute left, they closed the gap to just six points, but were unable to prevail.

Senior Taylor Mikesell led the Buckeyes with 25 points. Jacy Sheldon followed with 19 points, and Cotie McMahon was right behind her with 18.
Virginia Tech
Behind head coach Kenny Brooks, the team is having one of the best seasons in program history. They won their first ever ACC Conference title before the tournament and are currently boasting a record of 31-4.

Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore led the Hokies to victory. Kitley scored 25 points on the night and recorded her 56th career double-double, setting a new program record. She was also responsible for seven straight points in the fourth quarter that cemented the team’s win.
Amoore finished the night with 24 points, making this her sixth straight game scoring over 20 points.
What’s Next?
The Final Four is set. South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Iowa and LSU will fight for the NCAA Women’s National Title.
Virginia Tech is headed to Dallas riding a 15-game win streak. The Hokies will take on Louisiana State University in the semi-finals.
The two teams are set to face off Friday at 7 p.m.
