What is The ANWA?

The fourth Augusta National Women’s Amateur starts on Wednesday and will feature the Top 72 amateurs. The event is formatted for the players to compete in three full rounds or 54 holes of stroke play.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be played at Champions Retreat and the final round will take place at Augusta National. After rounds one and two, there will be a cut of 30 players. The remaining field will play for it all on Saturday.

If the winner of the event decides to remain an amateur, the champion will be invited to the next five ANWA events, the 2023 Women’s U.S. Open and the 2023 Women’s Open.

Heading into Augusta

During her tenure at the University of Florida, Filler has impressed on the course.

As a freshman, she made the 2021 SEC All-Freshman Team and finished in the Top 25 four times.

In Filler’s sophomore year, she made the All-SEC Second Team. Additionally, she was a team leader in Top 10 (4) and Top 25 (8) finishes, under-par tournaments (6), under-par rounds (14) and rounds in the 60s (8). Filler also led the team in stroke average with an average of 72.3.

This season has been no different in terms of Filler’s productivity. She’s played in every tournament and has had five Top 25 finishes. Moreover, she has finished in the Top 10 three times. Her most recent outing had her finished tied for third in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.

Joining Elite Company

Filler’s impressive play this season is why she will be joining four other Gators as the only women’s golf team members to play in the ANWA. Addie Baggarly, Sierra Brooks, Annabell Fuller and Marta Perez are the other Florida greats that have compete in this event.

In a class of her own, Fuller has played in the ANWA three times, while the other Gators have each competed once. However, Filler will look to become the first member of the team to bring home a win from Augusta.
