The buzz around former Ohio State star quarterback C.J. Stroud continues after close observation during Pro Day on Wednesday. As all eyes are still on one of the top picks of the draft, Stroud has continued to showcase why he’s at the top.
Pro Day Show Day
Pro Day was a day for Stroud to display his array of footwork and arm strength. His footwork and mechanics continued to impress as he further showcased his abilities.
Among the top quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft, Stroud is considered to have one of the more developed arms. With 85 touchdown passes to 12 interceptions and a 69.3% completion rate, it’s no wonder he was a Heisman finalist in the past two seasons. With that, he could become the first quarterback in Ohio State’s history to be selected with the first overall pick.
All Eyes on Stroud
The Carolina Panthers sent an abundance of representatives to Pro Day including owners David and Nicole Tepper. The Panthers, who had given up two first-round picks, two second-rounders and D.J. Moore for the right to swap picks with the Bears, will have the No.1 overall pick.
Back on March 10, The Athletic’s Joseph Person reported that insiders believe the Carolina Panthers were in favor of Stroud over Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis.
The assumption for a while was that the Panthers have Stroud as their number one pick, and drafting anyone else would be quite surprising. After the turnout of Carolina’s staff at Pro Day, it seems quite clear where Carolina stands with him now.
Stroud seemed to have appreciated the amount of ownership that was present during Pro Day, which is something you don’t see too often. The Carolina Panthers, per NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, are expected to meet with him again before the 2023 NFL draft.
