Season Recap
So far this season, the Gators have had one of the best offenses in the country. Florida’s offense is currently the second-best scoring offense in the nation. Additionally, they fall inside the Top 4 in multiple categories. The team ranks first in on base percentage, third in slugging percentage and fourth in batting average. Florida has outscored opponents 150-40 this season.
On March 3, head coach Tim Walton recorded his 900th win with Florida. Furthermore, the Gators are coming off of a series sweep against the University of Alabama at Birmingham over the weekend. Sarah Longley and pitching duo Elizabeth Hightower and Rylee Trlicek propelled Florida to the three-game sweep.
Longley went 5-for-9 in the series against UAB. Despite having just three strikeouts in two outings against UAB, Hightower pitched 8.2 innings giving up one run.
UCF
Wednesday’s matchup in Gainesville will conclude the Knights’ six-game stretch on the road. While the Gators have an explosive offense, the Knights have struggled in that area. UCF struggled to find success in the Judi Garman Classic, falling to four of the five teams they faced. The lone win came against Fresno State 1-0. However, the Knights gave No. 2 UCLA a scare, falling to the Bruins 2-1 behind Grace Jewell’s strong outing in the circle on March 4.
However, UCF found success in the Knights Classic. They won four of the five games with its sole loss coming to Louisville 15-5. Jada Cody is a player to watch for UCF. She currently sits in fourth place on the all-time RBI list in UCF softball history.
Additionally, Savannah Adams leads the team in batting average (.429) and is tied for first in home runs with Jada Cody. Both Cody and Adams have hit four home runs.
First pitch is at 7 p.m.
