Jalen Kitna Released On Bond, Could Go Back To Texas With Family

Gators quarterback Jalen Kitna, who is currently suspended from the team,has been released from jail on an $80,000 bond.  Kitna made his first appearance in court Thursday morning after being arrested on Wednesday on two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography.  The Gainesville Police Department released Jalen Kitna’s arrest report on Thursday and that report detailed the complaints filed against him.  Two of the charges filed against Kitna are second degree felonies while the other three are third degree felonies.

Kitna is expected to return to his hometown of Burleson, Texas, with his parents. Burleson is a suburb of Fort Worth.

According to an article from WUFT, in his court appearance, part of his bond includes no internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18. According to Kitna’s arrest report from the Gainesville Police Department, the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about child exploitation involving Kitna on June 23.

The University Athletic Association said the following in a statement regarding Kitna.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the news involving Jalen Kitna. These are extremely serious charges, and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior. Jalen has been suspended indefinitely from the football program.”

Jalen Kitna appeared in four games this year for the Gators as a redshirt quarterback.
