Vanderbilt: First SEC Win Streak Since 2018

Last Saturday, Vanderbilt University played against University of Kentucky. Today they are playing against the Florida Gators. If they win this would lead to their first SEC win streak since 2018. It was a 26 game loosing streak against the other SEC teams until they played University of Kentucky and won with a score of 24-21.

In 2019, Vanderbilt won against Arkansas with a score of 21-14. That season they won three games in total. They won against, Northern Illinois (24-18), Missouri and East Tennessee State (38-0), all of these games were home games.

Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky

In the game against Kentucky this season, the first quarter was close (7-6). In the second quarter, neither teams scored. The third quarter was what made Vanderbilt in a solid lead, Vanderbilt scored 10 points, Kentucky only advancing with three points. Kentucky tried harder in the fourth quarter scoring 12 points, but it wasn’t enough to take the overall lead in the game. Vanderbilt finished in the fourth quarter with 10 points, giving them the overall score and win of 24-21.

This gave Vanderbilt their first SEC win since 2019.

Vanderbilt vs Florida

Saturday, Vanderbilt University is playing against the Florida Gators, a win against the Gators will give Kentucky a back-to-back SEC win streak of two since 2018. In 2018, Vanderbilt defeated Ole Miss (36-29), then in the next game against Tennessee, Vanderbilt won again (38-13).

In the first quarter against Florida, the Gators scored three points and Vanderbilt scored no points. In the second quarter, Vanderbilt scored 14 points and the Gators scored only three points again. This lead to the game to have a halftime score of 14-6. In the third quarter, Vanderbilt continued their lead against Florida with a touchdown. In the first half of the fourth quarter, Florida scored a touchdown (28-18). Toward the middle of the fourth quarter, Florida then got an interception and failed to make a first down. Vanderbilt was able to score three points in the fourth quarter and Florida was able to score 12 points total in the fourth quarter. This concluded the game with a loss for the Gators 31-24.

Meaning that Vanderbilt University now achieved the first win against an SEC team since 2019 and their first win streak against other SEC teams since 2018.
