Lightning Come Up Clutch
Tuesday night’s game showed just how resilient this Tampa team is. The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the first period after an early goal from Dylan Gambrell. The rest of the period would not feature a goal from either team.
In the second period, Mikhail Sergachev responded with a goal for the Lightning to tie game up 1-1. At the closing minutes of the second, Ottawa scored again to take back its lead 2-1. It was the final period that provided the most action for the Lightning. They would go on a 3-1 run to ultimately win the game 4-3.
Nikita Kucherov was the x-factor for Tampa in this game. He assisted on two scores and made the goal that sealed the victory for the Lightning. Just when it seemed like the Senators would win the game in the third, Kucherov was clutch with his late assist and score.

Tampa Has Built Momentum
Coming off of a Stanley Cup appearance, Tampa had a slow start to its regular season. It began 1-3 with three all three losses on the road. Since then, it has built momentum that has put it right back in the win column and above .500.
The Lightning have lost only one game since and have a opportunity to extending this streak with a three home games in sight. With 72 games remaining in the regular season, they have a long road ahead to tighten the screws.
What’s next for the Lightning and Senators?
The Ottawa Senators come back home to host both the Vegas Golden Knights and Philadelphia Flyers this week.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will continue their home stint against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday and the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Tampa looks to extend its win streak to five by the end of the week.
