The Missouri Tigers are traveling to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the No. 25 Gamecocks on Saturday. Missouri currently sits at 3-4 on the season and the team sits in 5th place in the SEC East. South Carolina has a 5-2 record on the year. The Gamecocks entered the AP Top-25 College Football Poll this week following their 30-24 win over Texas A&M last week.
Gamecocks Looking Beyond No. 25
The 25th-ranked Gamecocks enter this weekend on a four-game win streak. South Carolina entered the AP Top-25 for the first time since being ranked No. 24 in week two of the 2018 season. In his second season as South Carolina’s head coach, Shane Beamer is finding success. Despite all of that, he is far from satisfied. During media availability this week, Beamer talked about how the team’s rank is exciting, but it’s far from their eventual goal.
Beamer talks struggles
Despite their ranking and solid record, South Carolina’s season has not been without its hiccups. The Gamecocks currently have a -6 turnover margin on the season, one of the worst in all of college football. Beamer discussed their turnover issues and he talked about how the staff tries not to harp on it, but the team understands how important of an issue it is.
Missouri to Honor Victims
Missouri will honor the victims of Monday’s shooting at a St. Louis high school during their game against the Gamecocks. At his press conference on Tuesday, Tigers head coach Eliah Drinkwitz talked about the importance of protecting kids in school.
“It’s about protecting the future of our country, and our children are our future,” he said. “We cannot continue to live like this. We just can’t.”
Tigers Focused on the Game Ahead
Drinkwitz had only good things to say about the Gamecocks and their staff.
The Tigers are looking to keep rolling after their 17-14 win against Vanderbilt last weekend. Missouri is entering the toughest stretch of their schedule with games against South Carolina, No. 19 Kentucky, and No. 3 Tennessee over the next three weeks.
Game time
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. in Columbia.
