Michigan
The Wolverines came into their ranked matchup against No. 5 in the country. They were led to this spot with the help of Heisman Trophy contender, running back Blake Corum and quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
It was the run game that put Penn State on its heels. Though Corum is the star of this duo, he had help from the No. 2 running back, Donovan Edwards.
Edwards and Corum combined for a total of 339 yards. Edwards had 16 carries for 173 yards and two touchdowns, including one for 67 yards. Corum backed him up with 28 carries for 166 yards and a two more touchdowns that included a 61-yard touchdown run.

Jim Harbaugh moves to 5-3 against Penn State as head coach of the Wolverines.
Penn State
Penn State stayed in this game until halftime. The offense had a slow start but it stayed in the game as it only trailed by two points going into the half. It was due to, in big part, a pick-six toward the end of the second half.

Both teams attempted to sway some momentum going into the locker room as a screaming match broke out. But nothing went right for Penn State coming out of the locker room however.
The offense could only muster a field goal in the second half and the defense let the Wolverines run all over it with 25 points. Penn State had no answer and got blown out of the game.
A look ahead
Michigan in this week’s AP Poll was bumped back up to the No. 4 spot. It has a bye-week this week but will host Michigan State on Oct. 29.
Penn State dropped from 10 to 16 and will host Minnesota Saturday.
