The start of the SEC Golf Championships are underway. Taking place at the Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama, this will be the ninth time this event takes place on this course. The Florida Gators women’s golf squad is set to take on fellow SEC opponents throughout the duration of the match.
Stroke Play Recap
The women’s golf championship started Wednesday morning. The first three days of the tournament, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, will have stroke play. With match play and the quarter finals happening on Saturday, and finally the championship round concluding on Sunday. At the end of the day on Wednesday Auburn would lead the teams scoring an even 288. Florida would tie for second shooting a 289 and just 1-over par.
At the end of the second day the Gators would sit in fourth place at 588 at 12-over behind Auburn, South Carolina and LSU. Auburn would score 288 on the second day sitting even across both days and leading the tournament. Auburn’s Megan Schofill currently leads the field with a score of 137 with the next best scores coming in at 138 and 140.

Match Play Preview
Due to weather events the start quarterfinal matches will be moved from Saturday morning to Friday afternoon. Following the end of the stroke play the top eight teams to the match play. At the at the end of Thursday the current teams that would make the cut are: Auburn, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Mississippi State. Gators look to be in good standing to make the cut for the quarter finals however after giving up 11 strokes on Thursday they will look to bounce back on Friday.
